This past Friday night, we had a special experience as a family and one that we'll all remember for a while.
I planned for weeks that that would be the night that we would do something special together as our last time with just the six of us and something fun to celebrate the baby's birth.
We ate a special dinner at P.F. Chang's and thanks to a free appetizer we got in August, plus the fact that we didn't order as much, it ended up being the least amount we'd ever spent there. Crazy since we had all six of us. I think the kids now love it just as much as we do!
We then headed across the street to the mall to Build A Bear. You see, Ammon and I have always done "hospital gifts". Something special that Ammon and I bring to the hospital when a new child in our family arrives for each of the kids. It's our way of showing the kids that something wonderful has happened but we remember them and it's not all completely about the baby.
This time though, I wanted to make more of a memory of the occassion and not just hand over another toy, which is why we chose Build a Bear. We told the kids they each had $25 to spend and that anything after that they had to pay with with their allowance.
They were so cute and so good and I'll remember it forever. They each chose animals that weren't too expensive as to leave budget room for clothing. All four of them were so excited to pick out the "right outfit" and take part in the experience. They all picked reasonable clothing and stayed within the budget. We told them after the animals were stuffed and put in the boxes, Ammon and I got to take them and they would see them again when they come to visit at the hospital. They weren't even allowed to put the clothes on the animals, which is why they are SO excited to meet up with these fuzzy creatures again.
The cutest part was the girl that was helping us because she was so friendly and fun with the kids. She made the whole experience memorable. She also helped us choose a bear for the baby. It has sewn on eyes and is allergy free and perfect for her...

Ethan chose a koala he named Kenny, Karli a pale pink bear, Hailey a pale blue bear since blue is her favorite color and a bright pink bear for Brynlee

So many outfits to choose from...hmm....maybe one of them should choose a pair of scrubs for some reason? ;-)
The outfits they chose....including a Harry Pottery like one for Ethan's...
Choosing the hearts.
They each got to pick two -one for their own animal and they each got to put a heart inside the baby's bear
First you rub it,
Then you put it on your cheeks (wasn't sure why that was!!)
Do a crazy dance for fun!
Make a wish and squeeze real tight...

Add a heart and some stuffing...
And tada the job is done and a new cuddly friend is made!
I loved how excited the kids were to put the heart in the baby's bear and that it is something the baby may treasure when she gets older. They are all so excited to meet their little sister and meet up with their stuffed animals again and it was such a fun evening to spend together as a family.
